Hoppy Easter 2011

Easter weekend was busy this year. We had our cousin Izzy stay the weekend with us and it was a blast. He visited us last year and the tradition has continued and we hope to do it again next year. Alex and Izzy really get along well and have so much fun together. Alex knew he was coming to visit and all day Friday all I heard from him was "whens Izzy gonna be here?" By the time he got here Alex was snoozing on the couch. I didn't think much of it because it was a long week for him but I couldn't help but notice the dark circles forming around his eyes. I figured he was tired. So when Izzy walked in I was happy to see Alex perk up and start playing right away. They stayed up watching movies, eating pizza, and finally crashed out in the living room, slumber party style. Saturday, they woke up early and Alex was complaining about his neck and head hurting. I took his temp no fever, gave him Tylenol, and figured he slept wrong. I went to the store to get some stuff and the kids played. When I got back I took the boys and Jade swimming. It was fun and I was excited to see Jade jump right in and go under without freaking out. Once back home Alex was out of it again. He said his head and neck was hurting again. We gave him more Tylenol. They went to get movies and something for dinner. When they got back, the dark circles appeared again around Alex's eyes so Kato took him to urgent care. He was positive for strep throat. Just like Michael used to get those circles I should have known and done something right away Friday. I felt bad but thankful that we didn't wait until Monday for the clinic to open. He was fine when the Tylenol kicked in but in between the symptoms took their toll. After two doses of antibiotics you never would have guessed he got sick. Again Saturday night they slumber partied in the living room and watched movies. Sunday I was up with a Happy Easter attitude. The kids went through their Easter bunny surprises. I heard Alex say to Izzy "isn't this the best Easter EVER!?" That was short lived because about 10 minutes later he was complaining he didn't get the same kind of candy as Izzy did...whatever, sometimes you just can't please him. Soon they headed outside for a 97 egg Easter egg hunt. After making sure they were all found we got ready to go to Keith and Jaynes for lunner (lunch and dinner). I made mashed potatoes and gravy along with another potato dish that is a family recipe. Both were delicious. Jayne had ham, carrots, salad, rolls, a broccoli souffle, and dessert. Everything was super good and it was tough to stop eating. The kids played outside a bit and then it was time to leave. Once in the car Alex was grumpy again and I just figured it was because him and Izzy had to split up. Sometimes I wish Alex was a twin so he would always have someone his age to play with. I think it was a great Easter because usually the Easter bunny doesn't bring me anything but this year to my surprise he did bring me stuff. I got a Brewers tank, t-shirt, and a pair of shorts (although they are actually mens underwear) along with 2 scented candles. When I asked the Easter bunny about the shorts he said that he thought I liked wearing shorts and tank tops during the summer. I explained that I do like wearing shorts and a tank top NOT mens underwear. We had a good laugh about it. I think I will let him wear the underwear or take them back and exchange them for something he would like since I didn't get him anything. Well I did get some bungee cords and a big bottle of 10w 30 oil and to him that sometimes is like getting gold. Anyway, thank you hubby for thinking of me at Easter this year, you made the best Easter Bunny ever!! thanks for reading xoxo

Childrens Museum

We went to the Children's Museum last Saturday followed by lunch at Ella's Deli. The kids had fun although it took Jade a while to come out of her shell otherwise known as Daddy's arms. I think we will have to go again. Grandma Kim was here to enjoy her grandchildren and made some art with Ella. Alex enjoyed everything he could climb up, in, or on. Jade got to paint the window and build with magnetic blocks which she really loved doing and we all got to see some baby animals up close. If the weather had been warmer we may have ventured around the square for the first farmers market of the season...then again Sarah Palin was there messing up the place. thanks for reading xoxo

I need some extra time...

The past few weeks have been a blur. Time just keeps going faster and faster. I can't seem to catch up and slow down. My mom arrived a week ago and has already left. I feel like all the things I want to get done are never going to get done because the time it takes to do it, is just not there. At this moment I am rushing to get this posted cause there are at least 3 other things to get done within the next half hour. Who was it that said "take time to smell the roses"? Did that joker have a family, a job, a life? I make a list, check it off when it gets done, move on to the next thing but the list is getting bigger everyday. I think it would help if I wasn't so tired all the time. I could fall asleep just thinking about how tired I am. It will be nice when the baby sleeps through the night. All my other kids were sleeping through the night by now, why not Ella? So to catch up on the blog is almost a hassle. I will do my best tho...thanks for reading xoxo

Poor little Ella...

Poor little Ella, having such a hard time growing up right now. She has a bad cold and her little nose is red from wiping off the boogies. She wants to get into places she isn't supposed to go so we close doors, put up gates, and pick her up and move her across the room. She doesn't like it one bit when I have to put my finger in her mouth to pull out something she shouldn't have in it. One time I found one of Alex's gumballs in there and was totally thankful she didn't choke on it. She wants to stand and pull herself up on everything but doesn't realize some things will tip over or not hold her up. She bumps her head every 5 minutes or falls over every 10 minutes. Sometimes she gets so excited to get across the room she puts her head down and crawls so fast she doesn't pay attention to where she is and runs into a toy or a wall. She hasn't been without a goose egg on her head somewhere since she was 4 months old. I finally got her her very own pull up and walk with toy but Alex and Jade won't leave it alone long enough for her to play with it. I say no no Jade that is for Ella and Jade says NO Jades! So I get on the floor and play with Ella helping her stand and balance herself so that she can stand for a few seconds by herself only to have Jade wiggle herself onto my lap taking away the extra space for Ella. I have space for 3 kids on my lap but Jade prefers all of it. Jade may be a little jealous. It was nice the other night when Kato was able to get some time with Ella without Alex and Jade climbing all over him. One day she will be off and running and getting these snuggle times in will be impossible. thanks for reading xoxo

Housewives..real or not so much

I was watching tv the other day, flipping through the channels, and I came across one of those Real Housewives show. I started watching it because there was a mini cat fight going on and really who doesn't want to watch a cat fight every now and then. I was laughing through most of it and thought to myself why hadn't I been watching it before. I heard people talking about these shows and I have seen people interview these women on tv but I never really got into it. Anyway, during the cat fight one women was calling out another women for not working. I didn't understand the entire story but it didn't really matter. One housewife said that the lady who called her out had no right to do so because she does work, she has the hardest job ever...taking care of her 3 small children and husband, running a household, and managing her own self. I thought to myself I can totally relate. I have 3 small children, a teenager, a husband, and a house to run too. I was totally on her side and thought the other woman was a B*tch for even challenging this hard working mom. I continued to watch the show with the thoughts that the hard working mom was my favorite housewife. She has twin girls and a boy. Her husband is a bit rude to her and I didn't really like that but she doesn't seem to mind it. So later in the show it was highlighting her home life with her, her husband, and her three children in the kitchen and there were two other ladies. She was talking about going to the gym for her workouts, yes workoutS!! She exercises 2-4 hours a day and the two other ladies in the kitchen were her full time nannies for her three small children!! I just about flipped out. I was so angry because I felt sorry for her thinking she was tackling the day all on her own, here she is with TWO nannies for three kids. Needless to say that show is a joke and that lady is a joke. They should rename it to Real Fake Housewives Who Are Really Too Self Centered. and that's all I have to say about that...thanks for reading xoxo
