Ups and Downs

Our little Ella is 6 months old and almost crawling. She gets up on all fours and does this little rock scoot thing. Its cute. She had her check up the other day and weighed in at a whooping 16 pounds 15 ounces which puts her in the 66%. She is 26 inches long, 56%, and her head is starting to shape up like her sisters at 17 inches putting that at 69%. Again the percentiles mean that out of 100 kids, her head is bigger then 69 of them, she is taller then 56 of them, and she weighs more then 66 of them. Over all she is in great health and can start veggies when we are ready. I was ready last week but got busy, thank goodness she has other things to eat.

Michael had a match against Baraboo on Tuesday. He received a forfeit, easiest win all season if you ask me. He also got to sport the throw back singlets. I will post a pic if I can find one, I only took the flip camera. His team went undefeated for the regular season (this doesn't include tournaments but I don't think they took less then 4th place for those), Good Job Eagles!!!

On a sad note, we learned Tuesday night that the owner of Katos company, Mr. Pat Dillon, passed away as a result of lung cancer. We send our thoughts and prayers to his family. Mr. Dillon was always good to Kato and I thank him profusely for the wonderful opportunities he blessed him with. thanks for reading xoxo

Clinton Tournament Part 2

Apparently Michael didn't sleep well either cause at 11:48pm I got a text asking to pick up some 5 hour energy for him. His first match was intense because it determines his mood for the first part of the day. He was on his game and won! We picked him up a Subway for lunch and about 4 hours later his second match took place. He won again. His team mates commented on how well he was doing. It was nice that he just kept on winning. He lost his final two matches and brought home 4th place. It was a huge accomplishment although he wanted at least 3rd. But look at it this way, he took 7th place last year, there were 26 teams competing this year, and his team as a whole took 4th!!! Sometimes I am just so gosh darn proud that I can't comprehend his disappointment. I am sure next year he will do even better. He was hungry when he got home cause he asked me to get him 8 McDonalds burgers. For those of you who count calories it comes out to 3000. Congratulations Gator, we love you!! thanks for reading xoxo

Clinton tournament part 1

We decided to travel to Clinton Iowa this weekend so that we can support Michael during his wrestling tournament. Friday we packed up and left early so that we could get there before it got dark. We stayed at the same hotel as the team which was located next to a Target, Walmart, and Applebees. We ate dinner at Applebees and once back at the hotel the kids went swimming. For some reason Ella was super fussy but I didn't think much of it. That night however was the worst night of her life!! She was up until 3:30am fussing and crying. She wanted to eat and if she wasn't she was crying. Finally at 3:30 she fell asleep and I couldn't have been more thankful. It was short lived because she was awake again at 4:30. I was tired and cranky and ready to put her out the window. Thankfully Kato got up with her and took her to the lobby to watch tv, and stay up with her so that I could get some sleep. They got back around 6:30, she was sleeping, until 7:30. It was a rough night and we are not sure yet why. A new place, teething, a cold, who knows?? Anyway, we got up and went to the wrestling tournament. The school was old and there were about 26 teams there. The kids were out of control and I wasn't sure if we would make it all day. The wait time between Michaels matches was about 2-3 hours. We left once to get lunch. They had concessions and stinky bathrooms. Jade slept a bit but Ella flat out refused to nap. She was awake for all but 1 hour of the 8.5 hours we were there. By 6:30 the kids were at their limit of being somewhat on good behavior. After Michaels last match, Kato and I had to get them out of there before WWIII broke out. It was a 3 hour drive home and no one was more anxious to get there then Kato. For some reason the garmin took us all the way home on back roads. It got scary at times and I was not happy with the route but we made it. Now here is the lesson...don't take the young kids ever again to a wrestling tournament, check the route the garmin gives you before you take it, and try to remember your kids are blessings no matter how crabby they are. thanks for reading xoxo

Jades the hostess with the mostest

There is nothing better then a get together with good friends. Except if you have tea, fried chicken, peas, waffles, cereal, soup, and a really great Dad to help put it all together. Jade had her first tea party with her dolls and Dad. I am really glad she dressed up for it in her Seahawks gear cause she was the best dressed at the party, considering one of her dolls is missing her skirt. Ella was there as the party crasher, literally, she kept falling over into everyones lap trying to reach for something. The tea was brewed to perfection and I think everyone including Dixie Alice (my cabbage patch doll) had a fabulous time. Jade did a wonderful job making sure no one ran out of tea and snacks. After the tea party and once all the guests were put back in Jades room, we watched football. I heard all her guests say she was the hostess with the mostest!! thanks for reading xoxo

I wanna be like Michael

How wonderful it is to be a young kid and look up to your older brother and want to be like him. Jade and Alex both want to wrestle like Michael. In fact here they are dressed in his singlet. Its the one they wear when they get to the championship rounds at tournaments. They decided to give their dad a beat down. I think Dad lets them win. After the match and when Alex was getting ready for bed he yelled out to me that he thinks he has ringworm (something Michael gets often from wrestling) after investigating the mark it turned out to be rug burn. Next I will hear how he thinks he has cauliflower ear, just like Michael. thanks for reading xoxo

Ella and the rug burns

Ella has been trying really hard to get up and crawl. She has started the scooting thing with her forearms and now her little arms have a little bit of carpet burn. Kato and I put ointment on them last night. Its no wonder why she got so fussy when she was on the floor after finding the sores. I am sure its frustrating trying to get to that one toy so you can touch it and taste it and for her when she rolls she sometimes is just inches shy of her goal. I love it when she ends up rolling in circles and then realizes she is never going to get there and lets out a super loud high octave screech. But then I feel bad cause she is really upset and so to reward her for her efforts I place the toy a little closer and she then gets to it with a scoot or a reach. After awhile she gets tuckered out, her cheeks are rosy, and she pops in her thumb and takes a rest. In just 6 days she will be 6 months old. thanks for reading xoxo

The Wrestler

Imagine for a minute a large gym. The floors are covered in 3 inch thick mats held together with tape, covered in blood, sweat, and tears of generations but clean of course. Facing the North and South are doors but flanking the East and West is balcony seating filled with at least a thousand people. The seats are hard wooden bleachers and the walls are adorned with red, black, and white coverings representing years of hard work, team spirit, and school pride. There is loud buzzing sounds, whistle blowing, yelling, and clapping going on all at once. The air is filled with a mixture of pulled pork sandwiches, nachos, and teenage boy sweat. Not the best combination. In fact you wish for a large bottle of Fabreeze. Every two seconds someone is crying, be it may a young sibling who is tired or a defeated athlete who's heart was in the game but crushed by points or a pin. Numbers are being called out 103, 112, 119, 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, 152, 160, 171, 189, and the one you have been waiting for 215, followed by 285. People are bleeding, knees are padded, ears are wrapped up, and prep wrestling has taken over. It begins for some at 8 am when the scale is called upon to do its job. Seventeen schools are represented and that scale will be the first to greet them. One by one they take their turn getting on and getting off. Too much weight and you are out, not enough weight and you might not last very long. Its an up and down battle and you haven't even met your opponent yet. Its 3 rounds for 2 minutes and that's it. You had better be ready cause for some its go time. For the spectator its a long day, a sore butt, a tired back, and maybe even a headache. The down time waiting for your number is spent watching others scrap it out. Some matches are pure spitfire and last but a few seconds, others are dragged out for 20 minutes or longer. It depends on how many times someone goes out of the circle or how long it takes to stop the bleeding, and for a few how soon they can be lifted and carried off the mat. Every second is personal and every second matters. Your entire body is put into positions that are not natural, are highly uncomfortable, and alot of times down right painful. You wiggle your way out or find some way to maneuver so it hurts less. You get an advantage and find the opponents weakness, take it for what its worth and ride it out for as long as you can. Points are scored, and some are taken away but either way someone is walking away a winner and someone is going to lose. That is how it has to be. By the end of your 3 rounds, and if you have made it that far, your muscles have been put to the ultimate test, your mind has been pushed to its outer limits, and your heart is either full of pride or crushed by the defeat, it is very personal. There is no point talking to the looser, they have to come down first. Words won't do anything for them, touching them is like putting salt in an open wound, and should they cry you had best just let them work it out. They all do, they all get back up, they all push back again, and eventually they all win that one round that makes it all worth it. Not everyone wins them all but they are all winners. The gladiators, the warriors, the few who are brave enough to get on that mat and give it their all to be called, a wrestler.

Michael, I am very proud of you. You are amazing. 2nd Place at Sauk Prairie Eagle Invite 2011

Happy Birthday Kato

Kato had a birthday today! I made him a cake, we wrapped some gifts, made a huge sign, blew up some balloons, and made his favorite dinner...tacos. He got some really great gifts, golfing, animal balloon making kit, Brewers mugs, and a car safety tool. He is right now at this exact second in the living room making balloon animals and squealing with delight when it actually looks like the animal he is trying to make. Love it! Happy Birthday Kato we love you! thanks for reading xoxo

Ella eats cereal

We started Ella on cereal and she seems to be doing really well with it. She doesn't get to messy and she eats really well. I was hoping it would help eliminate her midnight snacks but so far it hasn't. I miss her sleeping through the night. Last night was really rough but it was mostly because her nose gets so stuffy, she has a hard time breathing. She starts choking so I have to suck it all out. Its not runny its crusty so I have to also use saline to soften it up. This is gross but its what has to happen when they don't know how to blow. Anyway, Jade loves being the big helper and last night decided it was her job to help feed Ella her cereal. She did a great job and Ella really liked it too. Too bad she doesn't do diapers, although I am sure she would but sometimes she likes to mess in messes and that is one mess I don't want to clean up. thanks for reading xoxo

New Years with a few in between

When Kato and I were dating, 10 years ago, we (Michael, Kato and I) took a trip out to Wisconsin from Washington. It was during the holidays, after Christmas but before New Years. It was my first Lamb Family Christmas. On New Years night we went to the square in downtown Madison. They had a ton of stuff to do. We took a ride on a horse drawn wagon with hay in the back to sit on. It went around the square. It snowed that night. Later we went to see the trains at Olbrich Gardens and followed up with a family new year celebration at Jayne and Keiths. Jayne got out a piece of bologna bit two eyes, a nose, and a mouth out of it and sang the Oscar Meyer song and slapped that piece of bologna right on her face. It was so funny. Michael blew horns and went outside with Keith to yell happy new year at the neighbors. When we got back to Washington and about 2 weeks later, Kato asked me to marry him. He went to my parents first then he asked Michael. It was a wonderful time and the memories are priceless. This new years we have 3 more kids, we stayed home, some of us were asleep by 11:15 and it didn't snow. Some things may have changed for us over the years but one thing hasn't, we still love each other, we are still together, and we still hope for everyone to have a Wonderful Happy New Year!! thanks for reading xoxo
