Alex at the doc office

Wednesday Alex had his kindergarten readiness doctors appointment. I knew it would be difficult because he hates getting shots but I never imagined it would be as bad as it was. I am not one to rule out bribery when it comes to getting your kids to cooperate in certain circumstances such as getting 5 shots so I had prepared by getting him another Zhu Zhu pet as a reward. He is really into animals right now. Anyway, I explained he had a surprise for when the time comes and at first it worked but as soon as we walked through the doors to get to our room it changed. Getting him to get on the scale was a hassle and getting him to back up against a wall to be measured was even worse. He didn't want to do either and it was frustrating. He clung to my leg as we walked down the hall and Jade was in my arms cause she wanted to look and go where she wanted. The next stop was the eye exam. He was just at the eye doc but his pediatrician wanted to get it done anyway. It took us almost 1/2 hour just to get him to cooperate with it. He was crying and yelling that he didn't want to do it. Jade was running around and by now I was profusely sweating buckets!! Finally the nurse said forget it and we went back to the room. The doc came in and tried to get Alex to answer some questions which he refused again. I told him the longer he doesn't answer the longer we have to be there. He finally gave in and started to behave, for about 3 minutes. After another 1/2 of talking with the doc he wanted to examine Alex up on the table, again screaming and crying and fighting. The doctor finishes up and leaves. Alex then knows what is next...shots. The nurse comes in and he ducks under the chairs and refuses to come out. I pull him out get him up on the table and he starts screaming bloody murder at the top of his lungs "NO PLEASE NO SHOTS!" Jade starts screaming too and is clinging to my leg for dear life. Two nurses and myself hold him down and the 5 shots are given. He is bright red and mad as a fire cracker! After two minutes of calm down time we get ready to leave, he gets 4 stickers and a sucker and walks out with a limp exclaiming all the way how much he hates shots and how I shouldn't have done that. The entire appointment lasted only 1 hour and 35 minutes but it felt like forever!!! I am glad I don't have to go through that again for another 4 years. I am, however, not looking forward to the dentist in a couple weeks!!! thanks for reading xoxo

Mashed Potatoes and Gravy

Kato had a work party on Sunday in Tomah. We arranged the food and beverages. Since most people RSVP'd we figured there would be about 40 people, the day of the party at least 15 of those people were no shows. We had alot of left overs. Many people took stuff home with them but there was still leftovers. We ordered KFC, a cake, a veggie tray, and I made two fruit platters. Since then I have been eating mashed potatoes and gravy everyday for lunch. I am happy to announce the mashed tats and gravy are GONE!!! If we go to KFC any time soon I will not order mashed potatoes and gravy I might not even order french fries or potatoes of any kind for that matter. I would like to have more chicken. thanks for reading xoxo

Alex got his glasses...

What a busy day. I wished I could have slept in a bit but I woke up around 4am and couldn't get back to sleep. We went to get Alex his glasses today. He picked out one pair and Kato and I picked out another. The pair he picked out was shiny and more expensive the pair we picked are the ones in the photo and for some reason he wants to wear them more. I like the way he looks in glasses. He said he sees better. After the ordering of the glasses which took 4 hours to make we went to Toys R Us for a few minutes. The kids like to look at toys. Jade got a new toothbrush and Alex got a yo-yo. Not bad. Then we hit the grocery store. Kato has a work party tomorrow so we had to get supplies as well as our household groceries. Once we got home and unloaded Kato and Alex went back to pick up the finished glasses, Jade took a nap, and I prepared two platters of fruit and an olive and pickle tray along with a dip and made spaghetti for dinner, and got stuff ready to take to the party. They were gone for 2 1/2 hours. My feet and back were killing me. All I want right now is my bed but have to finish dinner and finish getting stuff ready for tomorrow. Hopefully sleep will be better tonight. Alex you look very handsome. thanks for reading xoxo

26 week ultrasound

I went in today for another ultrasound. I am 26 weeks, tomorrow I will be 27 weeks. Seems like its going fast. I would like it to slow down but with summer it will only go faster. The baby is doing much better. Before her head was too small but now she is back on track. Everything was measuring at least 27 weeks. She is for sure still a girl and she will be arriving July 19th. Its a Monday. It was neat to see the changes in the baby from the last ultrasound. The heart was more defined and so were her toes and fingers. She looks like Jade to me and when we showed the pics to Jayne and Mrs. Pearson (Alex's teacher) they said the same thing. I know it is hard to tell from a fuzzy ultrasound pic but you can. Anyway, glad we have all the stuff for a girl cause it would have sucked to have to round up boy things again. Just glad she is healthy and doing well in there. I asked the doc if he could send some vibes or something to my uterus telling it to lay off the Braxton Hicks but I doubt it will listen. Thanks for reading xoxo

Alex and the eye doctor

Over a month ago we set up appointments for Alex to go to the regular doctor, the eye doctor and the dentist. Kato picked the eye doctor appointment so Kato took Alex to the eye doctor today. I went out prior to and bought him some super cool spiderman sunglasses so that he would have something to look forward to after he got his eyes checked. The doctor had to put drops in his eyes to dilate them, he didn't like that part. After the examination we learned Alex has astigmatism and will need to wear glasses. The doc said it could correct itself and to bring him back in 9 months. I am so glad he went because kindergarten is right around the corner and getting things like this checked out prior to him starting can make things so much better for learning. I was surprised to learn that alot of young kids have this and it can be corrected. So we will go out and find him something he likes to wear and encourage him to wear them. After the appointment the guys had lunch together which was really nice cause its not very often that Daddy gets to do that. Next week he has his kindergarten check up and will have to get shots, unfortunately I am the one who has to take him. If you ask me Kato got off easy. Next month we go to the dentist, that should be a real treat! Not. thanks for reading xoxo

Sunday

Alex had his bell ringing and song singing for preschool at church today. He was picky at first about what to wear and how he wanted to wear it along with how he was going to style his hair. We got there almost at 9am. We sat in the second row and listened to the sermon. Alex did very well. The preschool kids all got up in front and played the bells and sang a song. Alex did pretty well, its difficult to get him to smile. After church they had an Easter egg hunt for the kids. Each kid got to get 5 eggs, a pencil, and a box of nerds. We thanked the Pearsons for allowing us to be included today and went home. We changed our clothes and ended up being outside for most of the day. Kato was working on running cable from the house to the garage so this summer they can watch baseball when we have our driveway parties. It'll be good for end of summer too when football starts up again. Its so nice having a handy husband who knows how to do cool stuff like that. Alex fell out of the neighbors tree and messed up his arm, its not broken just scratched up. He loves Swimmy and checks in on him through out the day. Kabobs for dinner followed by strawberry shortcake. Baths for the kids and for the husband then settle down for a show before bed.

Today is the one year anniversary of my grandpa Dales passing. I miss him all the time and think about him everyday. I called my grandma but she was out, probably visiting him. I miss our Sunday phone calls. I just miss him and love him so much. Its hard to believe its already been a year when it still can make me cry so hard. thanks for reading xoxo

Saturday

Friday night Jayne came to pick up the little kids and Michael went to bed around 9pm so he could get up for a wrestling tournament. Kato worked in his man room and I worked in my bedroom. I was able to pull together everything that fits me and put it in one drawer of my larger sized dresser (I have 3 dressers, and a walk in closet, plus the stuff in the storage room) so now instead of searching all over for my maternity stuff its all in one place. Most of its for summer but its gonna have to do because I am not buying more clothes for this pregnancy. Saturday morning Kato and I woke up and went to breakfast. It was nice to go out and have it be just us. Not that we don't' love our kids but did you read what happened at Pizza Hut? After that we went to the pet store and checked out fish stuff. Alex has been nagging us, well me, for a pet fish. We then went to get a car wash but the line was too big so we went up to St. Vinny's. Kato found some work shorts he wanted. He was so excited when he found them he came running, and I mean running over to me. "Can I get em? Huh Can I Can I?" It was odd but he looked like a little boy in a candy store. Then he said in his best voice that was supposed to sound like me "how you gonna pay for em?" Let's be realistic, its a used clothing store and the shorts were like $4 so paying for them was not an issue but whatever. He then, with his super wide grin, whips out of the pocket a twenty dollar bill!! NO WAY I said. He had found $20 in the shorts. I guess they don't go through them that well. He was so excited. We grabbed a couple more things and then headed for home. We were able to run a few errands without the little kids which was nice. We ended up getting Alex a pet fish, and he named it Swimmy. He was so excited. Michael got two medals at wrestling and we also got him some redneck comedy dvds that he likes. Jade got a new toothbrush and an outfit for her big sister debut.

Alex got to go to the zoo with his Grandpa Keith and Jade went shopping with Grandma Jayne. They dropped them off around 5, we had dinner, watched a movie, and went to bed. It was a great Saturday. thanks for reading xoxo

Dont you think your fat enough???

So we decided to go to Pizza Hut last night for dinner. We asked Alex what kind of pizza he wanted. He said he didn't want pizza he wanted the small circle things that are red and white. We couldn't figure it out so we kept asking him questions. "Is it on a pizza?" "Is it in the salad bar?" He kept answering no. We went through the menu looking at the photos and asking him if it was what he was talking about. Again the answers were no, thats not it! Kato asked if it was hot or cold, Alex replied sometimes its cold but sometimes its spicy. I said go up and look at the salad bar and see if you see it. By this time the waitress had stopped by 2 times. Finally the light turned on in Katos head and he said ohhhhh I know what he wants...he asked Alex if the waitress brings it out and Alex said yes. Kato knew what it was and at that point I didn't really care anymore I just wanted to eat. I said what it is? It was the after dinner mints that they bring out with your check. Basically candy. After a few seconds of laughing at how crazy it was we were on our way to eating dinner. We told Alex no he had to eat something more then just candy but he said he wasn't going to eat then. So fine let him starve. Kato and I got salads and Jade had some salad stuff too. Alex was just sitting there when he said "uh Mom? I have nothing to eat." So up to the salad bar we go and he picked out his salad stuff and ate it all gone. When the pizza arrived he ate that too, so much for not eating anything but the mints. I was done, Alex was done, Jade was finishing up and Kato decided he wanted more salad. Alex was getting upset because he really wanted the mints and knew it came with the check after everyone was done eating. When Kato got back to the table with more salad Alex said "uh daddy, you going to eat all that?" Kato said yes, Alex let out a big sigh and said "don't you think your fat enough?" I couldn't stop laughing and the people sitting across from us chuckled too. Kato laughed and gave Alex a look then explained it was healthy for him. Alex just really wanted him to be done so he could get the mints. Finally the check came, Alex got his mints and a sucker and shared a sucker with Jade. thanks for reading xoxo

What are you wearing today?

Sunday, Kato and our neighbor friend Dan, were both outside doing some work when we realized that somehow they both had dressed alike!! It was almost as if they called each other and said...
"kato?"
"yeah"
"its Dan"
"whats up, man?"
"not much...hey what are you wearing today cause I didn't get your memo on it?"
"sorry man I guess email was down...I am going with the navy blue Brewers shirt and plaid shorts."
"great thanks see you in the yard for man work!"
So there you have it. And the photos are the results. Its good that Kato has a buddy he can do man work with. thanks for reading xoxo

4/11/2010 not much to tell

Thursday I was not feeling well, fever, sore throat, sinus pressure and today (Sunday) I still feel icky!! Its hard enough being sick but being pregnant and sick sucks even more. I am glad we didn't have major plans this weekend cause I haven't been motivated enough to do anything. We did get the shelves up in Jades room yesterday and I was able to go through her clothes. Today Kato is working on the shelves in our room. It's nice having the floor space now. Last night we watched the movie Brothers. It was sad cause I am sure many people who come back from any military war, experience an emotional roller coaster.

Friday, Alex had his kindergarten walk through at school. I tried to get something out of him about it but all he said was he drew a picture and they read books. I can't tell if he is going to transition easily or if it will be difficult for him. I am a little sad about him leaving me for the day but I know it comes with raising kids. I hope he misses me a little bit cause I know I will miss him like crazy.

Tomorrow is back to work and I hope its nice enough for the kids to play outside. thanks for reading xoxo

Mr. Fix It and his helper

My wonderful husband has always been the type of guy to do things himself. When ever something needs fixing he does it himself. Whenever there is a home improvement project, he does it himself. We have had broken pipes, leaky faucets, broken windows, door leaks, basement flooding, and various home improvement tasks like redoing our hardwood floors (ok not the best example for those of you who have seen them but that was because of the dog), installing a dishwasher, replacing fixtures and lighting, and much more and my husband has done it all. I can only think of two times when we paid someone to fix something or do something and once was for the automatic garage door which if you have ever had a problem like a broken spring you know you have to call professionals and once for installing of carpet upstairs in Jades room and well duh on that one! Anyway, sometimes he says he fixes things too good, for example, our main door we use is actually the back door. It was letting in too much cold air so during the winter he put on more trim which made it harder to shut the door without slamming it. For those of you who visit you know what I am talking about. Anyway, last night he decided to fix his original fix by removing the trim and spacing it out a bit. Surprise it worked and now the door should be considered perfect!! Well Jade decided to help in her Easter dress and work boots. Its nice not having to slam the door shut anymore. Thanks Husband!! thanks for reading xoxo

here are some pics from Michael at his wrestling banquet. he got a medal and his varsity letter.

Easter Weekend

Spring break is over and now we are back to normal...well almost! Friday Kato's cousin Izzy came over and stayed with us for the weekend. He is 7 and him and Alex had alot of fun. They played so well and there was only one time when I had to say "quit it" which is nothing compared to what I have to say non stop during the week. Friday Kato also went down to pick up Michael from the airport and it is so nice to have him home. Saturday we got the swing set from the neighbors and the kids have been playing on it ever since. It wasn't too difficult for the guys to bring it over and it only took about an hour with 2 guys watching while 1 guy did most of the work, but isn't that how it goes anyway? Sunday was Easter and the kids awoke to a table full of stuff and a backyard full of eggs. After they opened everything or at least looked at it all and found the eggs we got ready to go to Jayne and Keith's for brunch. It was really good and nice to visit with Grandma Lamb for a bit. All in all it was an ok weekend, it was busy and almost as if I didn't get a day off but it was productive. I hope next weekend it rains alot and we are stuck inside so I can get the new shelves up and the kids toys need to be organized better. Then again now that we have the swing set they can play outside while Dad watches and I will stay inside and do the work. Its Monday now and I really hope the Easter Bunny left us a good Monday! thanks for reading xoxo
